If you are looking for a floor that is both kid and pet friendly you may consider choosing solid vinyl plank or vinyl tile. This type of floor is pretty indestructible and is a great choice for an active home. Vinyl tile or plank is not only kid and pet friendly, it is also not affected by water. Vacuuming and using a damp mop can easily maintain solid vinyl flooring. Here are a couple of reasons you may consider this type of product. Solid vinyl floors are very durable and hold up well under most conditions; Solid vinyl is hypoallergenic, requires low maintenance, warm underfoot, and affordable.
These types of floors come in a variety of styles and patterns, the wood grain and tile pattern are the most popular. What ever design idea you may have, vinyl plank flooring can add the extra touch of class to your home. There are many different suppliers of solid vinyl. Armstrong, Nafco, Flexco and Konecto are some of the more common manufacturers in the marketplace. You should expect to pay a little more for luxury vinyl flooring compared to laminate, but less than most hardwoods.
No matter what type of flooring you decide to put in your home, do some research first? Take the time to learn about the product and don't rush into any decisions. Remember, having a good installer in your home ensures your money will be well spent.
A bad installer can cost everyone in the process. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

What is your opinion of using vinyl planks on stairs?
ReplyDeleteDepends upon what type of vinyl you are using.
ReplyDeleteI really don't recommend it. Luxury vinyl is a great product, but depending on the product, some scuff more than others. Are you putting vinyl plank in other areas in the home?
Thanks for the question
John
John,
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't answer sooner- I was on vacation an purposely did not go near a computer!
I have vinyl plank (Tarkett- installed in 2002) in my kitchen, dining room, and bathrooms already. I've been really happy with it- it has worn well, easy to clean, and most people think it's wood.
The stairs and hallway that I need to re-floor connect to the dining room, and are the main corridor through the house...
I had carpet there, but it didn't wear very well and was impossible to clean well.
Any suggestions about the best flooring option?
Price is an object, but I am willing to pay more to have the right product installed.
Thanks,
Dan
I recommend buying wooden stair treads. This is really the only type of product that will hold up long term. It is better to spend the money now, than to replace something later. Find your self a local sand and finish contractor and get a quote. you will most likely get your best price there. Don't go through retail on these.

Vinyl flooring is a popular choice among home renovators who prioritize durability. We actually used vinyl flooring (Tampa) for our kitchen when we renovated it last year. Even after a year of use, there are no apparent streaks or damages. It still looks the same as the first day when we installed it. I suggest home owners to check online or visit local suppliers to get more information about vinyl flooring.
